It's time for the next A.W.A.K.E. meeting!
February's meeting will be on:
Thursday, February 24, 2011
at
5:00 PM Pacific
6:00 PM Mountain
7:00 PM Central
8:00 PM Eastern
This will be the second in a four part series of conference calls with the major manufacturers of CPAP. This month’s call will be with Randy Thinnes, Jeremy Malecha, and Greg Peake from ResMed, one of the largest providers of CPAP machines.
Many of you are probably using a ResMed S8™. The grey and blue football-shaped machine was the type PDMD used when they were in business. Several large fleets like Schneider use the ResMed CPAP.
ResMed has recently come out with a new model, the S9™ that has several features specifically designed for using a CPAP in the trucking environment. Instead of the old plastic data cards that often got damaged in the mail, the new S9 uses a standard SD data card like many digital cameras use. This can allow drivers with an SD card reader on their laptop to e-mail compliance data to their medical treatment provider. There are several other features that may be of interest to drivers.
If you happen to be a driver who now has one of the new S9 CPAPs, we especially want to hear from you. As this model is new, hearing your experiences will help other drivers. If you can’t call on Thursday, please leave us a voice mail message or send an e-mail.
If you have an older S8 or other ResMed CPAP and want to hear or learn more about its features or are having a problem with it, call in to get answers from the experts at ResMed.
Many drivers are already familiar and currently using the ResMed Quattro™ full face mask. ResMed has just released the new Quattro FX™ full face mask, the most unobtrusive full face mask on the market.
The conference call number is 712-432-5015, access code 350926.
The TFAC- A. W. A. K. E. information line has not changed: 337-513-4543.
Anyone can attend this call free of charge (except for your phone charges) by dialing 712-432-5015 and entering access code 350926 when prompted.
A.W.A.K.E. , Aware Well And Keeping Energized (for professional drivers that would be Keeping Employed ) has several hundred "brick and mortar" chapters, located in all 50 states and in Canada. These are chapters where a person physically attends a meeting, something that is almost impossible for a professional driver to accomplish on a regular basis. Using Truckers for a Cause and our expertise we are going to provide, at no charge other than the phone call, a "virtual meeting room" where a professional driver, or anyone who wishes to, can "attend the meeting" via telephone. attendee's will be provided with the same information that is available to people attending a "brick and mortar" meeting.
The mission of A.W.A.K.E. is to inform and educate--not to endorse or to sell any product. This is also, as stated in our mission statement, the aim of Truckers for a Cause.
There are no dues, charges or donations other than the phone call for the A.W.A.K.E. meetings or for membership in Truckers for a Cause. This is a free public service presented by T.F.A.C. and the American Sleep Apnea Association.
We respectfully request that you consider attending these meetings.
